Freestanding baths have become an incredibly popular alternative to built-in baths in recent years. Not only do they look beautiful, but they create a focal point and add a luxury feel to any bathroom.

A freestanding tub is finished on all sides. Unlike built-in tubs which must be installed against a wall along at least two sides or within a pre-built surround or enclosure, freestanding baths can be installed entirely stand alone.

There are also “back-to-wall” freestanding baths available which are suitable for smaller sized bathrooms. One side of the tub sits flush against the wall. Because both ends of the tub remain unattached, you still get the appearance of a freestanding bath.

Freestanding tubs have in the past been more of a high-ticket item, but more recently they have become much more affordable. They are available in many shapes, with square and oval being the most popular.
